alexis finley + story

Alexis is an artist and a sober addict in recovery. Making art has, quite literally, saved his life. Addiction has shaped his vantage point and plays a major role in his need to create. As an introvert and creative type, his art is how he best communicates his life experiences and emotions. He is passionate about preserving the perfection of the natural environment and uses a combination of natural and sustainable materials. Alexis' work brings the natural world inside.

In addition to making art, he is a surfer, climber and yoga practitioner. As a young adult, he lived out of his truck while working as a climbing guide in the US and abroad.  He learned wood and metal work in his 20's while working for designer and artist, Ivan Hill.  This led him from craftsmanship and into artistry.

He currently resides in Nosara, Costa Rica with his wife and two children, where he surfs and creates on the daily. Alexis sits on the board for Wild Arizona and is actively involved in several other environmental non-profits.
